The Student Chapter of International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE) is pleased to announce the second Symposium on Industrial Ecology for Young Professionals (SIEYP II). This symposium is specifically designed for young professionals, including graduate students and post-doctoral researchers. The primary goal of this symposium is to provide an opportunity for young professionals who perform research in the area of industrial ecology (IE) to present their ongoing research, receive constructive feedback, and network with senior professionals in their fields. In particular, the event will enable young professionals to establish a network of IE researchers for ongoing exchange and future collaborations.
The symposium, held at the University of California, Berkeley on June 11, 2011 immediately follows the International Society for Industrial Ecology conference (ISIE 2011) at the same location. The symposium is free of charge.

The theme of the symposium is Handling Uncertainty in Industrial Ecology.Topics include, but are not limited to, uncertainty in the context of material flows analysis, lifecycle methodology, inputoutput analysis, lifecycle management, complex systems and agent modeling, scenario development and analysis, policy planning, managing endoflife products, and footprinting. A conference program with authors’ name and presentation titles will be posted on ISIE Student Chapter website.

Call for Papers: The symposium will feature one keynote speaker, paper, and poster presentations. Young professionals all over the world are invited to submit papers describing research, applications, tools, and case studies addressing the issues in the field of IE. Approximately 30 minutes will be provided for each paper presentation, including questions and responses. Some authors will be
chosen to present a poster rather than an oral presentation.
Eligibility: The first author must be either a graduate student or post-doctoral researcher within two years after his or her Ph.D.
Submission of Abstracts: Prospective authors should submit an extended abstract of
800-1000 words clearly explaining the subject, originality, and relevance to the symposium on or before April 1st, 2011. Extended abstracts will be reviewed by the Technical Committee. Abstracts submitted to this symposium can be the same as those submitted to the ISIE 2011 conference. Authors selected for presentation will be notified by April 25th, 2011.
